International Polar Bear Day!
Hi, readers!
We have a special guest blogger today—meet our intern Lesley DeBoer, who will talking to you about polar bears. Take it away, Lesley!
Are you enjoying the snow this winter? I know the polar bears are definitely enjoying the snow up north, especially today, because it is International Polar Bear Day!
Interational Polar Bear Day is a day to bring awareness to global warming and the reducing of the Arctic sea ice that polar bears depend on to hunt. Check out this video of polar bears!
Here are some cool polar bear facts!
- Polar bears have an awesome sense of smell. They can smell seals up to a 1.6 km (1 m) away.
- Polar bear fur is actually transparent but reflects light, which make it look white.
- Polar bears have 42 very sharp teeth for chowing down on prey.
Do you like polar bears? Let us know in the comment section.
See you soon!
