Summer is here! Here are a few activities you can do with your family!
Hot Potato, Wet Potato!
1) Soak a sponge in water. Pretend the sponge is the “potato”.
2) Have everyone sit in a circle.
3) Ask a parent to play some music. As the music plays, pass the potato around the circle.
4) When the music stops, the player holding the potato is out. The last player holding the sponge when the music stops wins!
Or you can try these:
Play hopscotch. Draw squares with sidewalk chalk and try hopping inside them!
Run through a sprinkler. Make it a game and see how many times you can run back and forth
Make up a song while jumping rope! Skipping rope is really fun, but it’s even better when you have a song to sing.

Summer calls for lots of outdoor fun! If you’re on the lookout for outside activities, try making these gigantic bubbles! This activity is sure to be loads of fun for you and your friends!
*Be sure to ask an adult for help to make the bubble wand and mixture.
You’ll need:
String
2 wooden dowels
Eye bolts
Drill
Washers
2 cups dish soap
4 tbsp glycerin
2 tbsp baking powder or corn starch
Wide bucket
Water
What to do:
Note: Make sure an adult helps with this part of the activity! Drill a hole into one end of each dowel and screw in the eye bolts. Cut two different lengths of string (about two metres and one metre long). Feed the short string through the eye bolts and tie them tight. Then take the long string and add a washer to weigh it down. Then tie that string to the eye bolts as well. Tie a tiny knot where the washer hangs so it doesn’t get knotted.
For the bubble solution, mix the dish soap, baking powder or corn starch, and glycerin in your bucket. Add lukewarm water and stir.
Bubble time! Dip the wand into the mixture (make sure the entire string gets covered) and gently pull it out. Move your wand through the air to create giant bubbles. Yay!
This is a great way to spend time outdoors on a sunny day! If you try this fun activity out, let us know in the comments below how it went.
