OWL Voices – Dominic
This is our first edition of OWL Voices where we showcase an OWL reader. Enjoy!
Hi, I’m Dominic. I am 11 years old and I have a little brother and a baby sister. I like swimming, playing video games, chilling with friends, and doodling. I also like to read. I read a little bit of everything, like LEGO Club Magazine, Uncle John’s Bathroom Reader, and OWL… of course! My favourite part of OWL is… well… I don’t have one! It is awesome!
I have Aspergers, which is a word that is not really used anymore. It just means that I have Autism Spectrum Disorder. I do not like the word disorder so I still use the word Aspergers. I am high functioning which means you cannot tell that I am Autistic just by meeting me. I have problems just like everybody else and just because I have Autism doesn’t make me weird. Some people with Autism don’t like to be touched or they don’t like loud noises. Those things don’t bother me. I do not like getting my hair cut, it can be very painful for me. A good tip when hanging out with someone who is Autistic is don’t assume things about us. Everyone is different!
I just moved to New Brunswick from Ontario, and while I was there I belonged to a LEGO Club called “Builders Block”. It was fun. I am excited for this year because I am going to start my own LEGO Club here in Fredericton! I look forward to my OWL magazine every month. It is an awesome read!
Awesome letter, Dominic!
