I got to meet four very special heroes at the Purina Animal Hall of Fame ceremony yesterday. All these helpful doggies got awards for their super heroic efforts!
Nettle is a trained diabetes dog who helps his owners Brooke and Jade stay healthy.
Bella comforted a sick stranger while he waited for an ambulance to come.
Sako saved her owner after a car crash. She laid on him to keep him warm all night!
Badger pulled his owner to safety after he had fallen on ice and hurt his leg. Go badger, go!
Do you know a pet who is a hero or even just a great friend? Tell us all about him or her! You can also enter your pet into the Purina Better Together Award and share his or her story with the rest of the country.

Today I got to meet some amazing dogs at the Purina Animal Hall of Fame.
The Animal Hall of Fame tells the stories of four heroic pets. Want to meet them? Here they are!
Brooke and Jade hug their diabetic alert dog, Nettle.
Nettle is trained as a diabetic alert dog. Brooke and Jade are 12-year-old twins who have type 1 diabetes. He can smell if Brooke and Jade’s blood sugar is low and then alerts Brooke and Jade’s parents. This helps keep the twins safe and healthy. Keep up the great work, Nettle!
Fawn and Joseph with a portrait of their hero dog, Sako.
Sako is a super dog hero because he kept Joseph safe in the B.C. wilderness after a car accident. He even lay on top of Joseph to keep him warm. Way to go, Sako!
Badger and Derik
After Badger’s owner, Derik, fell and broke his leg on ice, Badger was able to pull him back to his cabin to call an ambulance. Hooray for Badger!
Bella and Rob
Bella alerted his owner, Rob, that there was a man who needed an ambulance in their apartment lobby. Bella even stayed with the man until the ambulance came.
I loved meeting these super awesome pets at the Purina PawsWay in Toronto today. I can’t wait until I meet more amazing pets next year!
Don’t forget to check out the May issue of chickaDEE—it’s all about pets!
Today I had the honour of attending the 2014 Purina Animal Hall of Fame ceremony at the Paws Way in Toronto. All the animals you are about to meet are heroes because they helped save lives.
Ready for the 2014 Purina Animal Hall of Fame Awards!
Here we go!
First, here’s Kyra and Jake (pictured in the frame) from Peterborough, ON. These two hero dogs distracted a black bear so their owner, Lynn, could call for help. Hurray for Kyra and Jake!
Kyra gets a medal for being a hero!
Here is Rocky from Fort Saskatchewan, AB. Rocky and his owner, Adam, helped rescue two young sisters who fell in a river. Good job, Rocky!

Meskie the cat is from Little Shemogue, NB. She’s a hero because she alerted her owner, Chryl, that her house was on fire. Super kitty!
