Happy Summer Solstice!
Hi readers,
Today is the first official day of summer, otherwise known as the summer solstice! To celebrate the longest day of the year, check out these cool facts!
- The North Pole is tilted closest to the sun more than any other time of year during the summer solstice.
- The sun doesn’t set in the North Pole throughout the entire summer.
- In Wiltshire, England, there’s a stone monument called Stonehenge that was built over 5,000 years ago. Some suggest it was used as to mark solstices. Every year, people gather to celebrate the event.
- Every planet in our solar system has solstices!
