Olympic Fever – Paul Tingley
We want to introduce you the talented and inspiring Paul Tingley, who’s definitely one to watch this summer!
Paul is part of the Super Athlete team for the 2012 Summer Paralympic Games starting August 29.
Name: Paul Tingley
Sport: Paralympic Sailing
About Paul: He’s nicknamed The Gambler because he takes risks that few sailors take. After a ski accident left him paralyzed from the waist down in 1994, he moved to Victoria, BC, to sail with the disabled team. Since then he’s one of the top solo competitors in the world. His boat has a joystick to control levers that steer the boat. Paul is extremely determined and innovative. He trains five times a week for three hours at a time on the water. For mental sharpness, he does daily puzzles and video games. He also trains at the gym, kayaks, and goes ski-pole pushing for aerobic exercise.
Amazing! Check out Paul in this video by the Canadian Paralympic Committee.
We wish Paul the best of luck at the Paralympic Games in August and can’t wait to see The Gambler in action!
