Talkin’ About OWL
Well, guys, I don’t want to toot (hoot?) the OWL horn too much, but here goes: it’s only the middle of August and there’s already a bit of internet buzz about the September issue of OWL.
Click here to read a review of September’s “Go Green!” issue on a blog on the Montreal Gazette website. It’s by a nine-year-old writer named Clara!
Talk to you soon, OWL readers. Let me know what you think about the issue as soon as you get it.
Craig, owlblog@owlkids.com

i can’t wait to read it (FIRST COMMENT YAY!!!!!)

i know what you mean sydney, its so hard to find Ws outside…im to old to enter, but my sis is gonna, so we’ve been looking together and all iv found is a tree
I got it too…
Thought that the homeschooled person made homeschooling sound like a walk in the park though…
it isn’t….
Wish I could get up at 9:30 and read and write after lunch…!!
Homeschooling really is awesome though..:))
I love my homeschool group!
Hey Marwyn! Thanks for the info! I like that parents and students choose the subjects themselves with home-school. That way, every home-school experience is different. Cool!
Hey! I know I’ve been gone for a while, but, er, hello. I’m seriously in OWL, Katie? Yay! (I knew I was gonna be, but it’s still super exiting!) I haven’t got my issue yet. (hurry mail guy!) Marwyn, I know some homeschoolers that wake up at six and just do chores till like ten! I’m kinda lucky to have my mom as a teacher, she’s sorta layed back when it comes to homeschooling.
i did homeschool this year too, …and your right Marwyn, it isn’t as easy as people think. I think it is actually harder, you have to be really organized…..and being at home all day is not as fun as it sounds..thats why im going back to regular school 😛
did you guys know vanessa hudgens was homeschooled??! :O she never actually had a real high school graduation
Cant wait to read it. by the way, I turned 13 yesterday!
i would do so much better in school if i could chose my subjects….no more health!!!
Hi, Craig this is the randomest (if that is even a word) question ever, but who drew that picture of you at the top to the left of where it says: Craig’s Blog, Notes form the Editor of OWL Magazine?
Lola, you’ll like High School, you pick your own subjects every term. I’m not really looking forward to that part of Grade 8. Bleh!
Happy Belated Birthday Jellybean!
Hey Sinead. I saw you in OWL, and I was like, I’m pretty sure its her, but I’m not going to say anything just in case I get it wrong and embarass myself!

I don’t have my September issue either:(
Hi Owlkid17! You’ll find out the results of the acrostic poetry contest in the October issue. Hopefully you get September soon!
YAY I FINNALY GOT MINE!!
My 10 year old daughter was tickled to see another homeschooler in Owl (she loves this magazine and has had a subscription for 2 years already) who shares her name….Sinéad!
She loved this issue too, received 2 days ago.
Thanks for the comment, Mary. We love all types of feedback at OWL â especially the positive kind!
Our Sinéad would love to get out of bed at 9:30, but weâre slave drivers. 😉
Thanks for the info Craig!
I still don’t have my sept. issue yet:(
I am so proud of Sinead’s article. When she first wrote it I thought it might be a little to opinionated but I see that the article on Public School is just as opinionated so that is great. Thanks Owl and Craig for giving her the opportunity. Sinead, her sister and I will be interviewed on our local radio station because of it.
For those who were surprised that Sinead made homeschool sound so wonderful just let me say, there are as many different ways to homeschool as there are homeschoolers. We have a more laid back approach, some would call it unschooling but we are not that relaxed. How you homeschool depends on your reasons for doing it. Some have more of a literal school-at-home method, others follow their interests and rely more on experience than books. Most homeschoolers fall somewhere in between the two extremes.
I thought the 9:30 wake-up call a little funny. I have a goal to be up and moving by 9 but Sinead is probably right. She is now in that age group that functions better when allowed to sleep longer. 😀
STILL DON’T HAVE MY SEPTEMBER ISSUE! THIS IS SO IRRITATING!
Hello, Sinead! Wow, I’ve never known another Sinead, especially another homeschooling Sinead… :3
IT MIGHT BE LOST IN THE MAIL
Sorry, I’m kinda confused about the photo contest, can I e-mail them? Or can I print them out and send them…. or do i have to get them developed and then send them??
