Talking Food With a Chirp Author
Hi everyone,
Did you read the Live From Your Fridge story by Canadian author Bowman Wilker in the January/February issue of Chirp Magazine? Since the theme of this issue is FOOD, let’s get to know Bowman a little better with these four food questions.
1. What inspired you to write a poem about the food in your fridge?
My daughters and their friends came up with the character Bubba Da Lemon and I just loved the name. I thought he would be the type of lemon who would have lots of funny and talented friends. Plus, I always wondered what happened in my fridge whenever I closed the door! Now I know.
2. What is your favourite food?
I like avocados because they are such great salsa dancers. I also love bananas because most of the time they are just – BANANAS!
3. What is your least favourite food?
I would never want to hurt any vegetable’s feelings but I really don’t like the way cabbages sing. If you have ever heard a cabbage sing you know exactly what I mean. That’s probably why there are no cabbage music groups.
4. What’s the silliest meal you’ve ever had?
I once went out to dinner with a couple of eggplants and a zucchini. It was a ridiculously silly meal! The eggplants didn’t even wear shirts and the zucchini had terrible table manners! He did not even say, “Please” when he asked me to pass the salt.
Ha ha! Thanks, Bowman!
