Video Game Review and Contest: Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games
One more month until the Olympic Winter Games get started in Sochi! Who else is counting down?
In our Jan/Feb issue, we included Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games in “What’s Hot.” We also asked OWL reader and gamer Jackson to review it for us. Here’s what he had to say about this sporty new game.
“I really enjoyed this game! First of all, you can choose any Mario or Sonic character to participate in any Winter Olympic event. This allows you to use that particular character’s unique powers to give you an advantage in a given sport. For example, the Sonic character was a great choice for the racing events. It was also interesting that your Mii was awarded the medal under your profile which allows you to boost your home country’s points total. One of my favourite things to do with this game was to play the dream events. Dream events are modified versions of real events, such as snow day street hockey, snowball scrimmage, or roller coaster four-man bobsled. They were great fun! The only problem I had with this game is that sometimes when you motioned the Wii remote, it would not respond, costing you valuable points. I would recommend this game to kids that like winter sports and Mario and Sonic characters.” 9/10
Thanks for the review, Jackson!
