Video Game Review: Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy
I’m a big fan of the Professor Layton games. And so is OWL reader Jack! We asked him to play the newest game in this challenging puzzle series, Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy. Here’s what he had to say.
This is a great game. I like how there are puzzles added to the game because that not only makes the game fun but also makes it challenging and great for practising math skills. The story line is also great, although it would be even better if the game showed what leads up to Professor Layton knowing about the mummy. It is also good that you can save the game. It is kind of weird that you can’t save the game at any point in time until halfway through chapter 1. I also like that each puzzle gets harder and harder and harder. The graphics are really good and the game does not freeze. The animation style is kind of like Pokémon X and Y. I like how the music changes at certain points in time. For example, when you’re chasing the target airship, the music changes to a bit more drastic. Or when you’re in a peaceful town searching for info, the music is a bit more peppy or happy. It also may come in handy if you have these things:
1. A DS or 3DS and charger in case of low battery when playing
2. A piece of paper and pencil to jot down notes or math to help with a puzzle
3. A parent if you need help with a puzzle
I really like this game and I hope you enjoy it, too. My rating is 9.5/10.
Thanks for your review and the tips, Jack!
Any other Professor Layton fans out there?
