Weird Zone: The Movie
Hey all. I know I mentioned it way back, but I’ll mention it again: we work months in advance here at OWL. Case in point: right now, we’re finishing up the May issue and we’re already planning issues for the fall.
So, when I say I’ve been waiting a long time to post this video that coincides
with a cool “Weird Zone” block from our March issue, I mean I’ve been waiting
a long time. Like, since October — that’s when writer Maria Birmingham sent in her final draft of the story.
Without any further adieu, here it is:

Wow. That was totally worth the wait. It’s one thing to read about it (and Maria did a great job of describing how the painting was made), but it’s another thing
to see it in action.
Artists on tricycles. Who knew?
Craig, owlblog@owlkids.com

wow! that’s so cool! I would have died to have waited so long to post that video!
Craig, why does Owl have to plan the magzines out so far ahead? and how do you guys figure out what to put on the calanders if you have to plan so ahead of time?!?!
Great question, Katherine! It’s a long answer, so I’ll have to include it in the next mailbag. Keep your eye out for that.
Also, glad you liked the video!
Cool!
At first I thought, Oh My Gosh! Why is he so messy??? Then, when he first lifted I stencil, I was like, oooohhhh….
Cool tricycle tricks, even though I know the one at the end where he “jumps off” the tricycle was fake. How could he look at the camera instead of his work at certain times?
that was nice
WOW.I..can`t think of any other word! Awesome!
wow, that was awesome! and that trick at the end wasn’t fake, i’ve done that, but not that high. it’s fun. and honestly Katie, he had stencils, and do you have to look where your going on a TRICYCLE? it’s a tricycle.
Wow! That’s so cool! I don’t think I would have the patience to do that though………
I first saw him look at the camera BEFORE I knew there was a stencil, and he could have made a wrong turn accidentaly and gone OFF the stencil.
Also, the trick at the end, he leaned forward, then stopped recording, so it looked like he disapeared, and then THAT is how he did it.
Craig here are some of the things I love about OWL ( even though I love everything).
