Write/Right to Read Contest

Hey all! A few of you recently asked me to post a contest on the blog. This isn’t exactly what you were looking for, but what if I direct you from the blog to a cool contest? That’s almost as good, right?

If so, let me be the first to introduce you to the Write/Right to Read Contest. It is a story writing and drawing contest, and it is fun for several reasons:

1. It involves creative writing;
2. It involves Kenneth Oppel (no kidding — he actually wrote the beginning of the story that entrants have to finish);
3. It involves creative writing about broken-down spaceships!

The contest is being put on by World Literacy of Canada, an organization that supports reading and writing all around the world, and especially in Third World countries. The organizers hope to improve literacy skills across the country, and to create some global citizens in the process.
